Soft Error. A Metamorphosis Chapter

A meditation on transformation, instability, and the beauty of imperfection in the digital age.

Collaboration

Soft Error.
A Metamorphosis Chapter

The project brought together digital artists exploring identity, memory, and transformation in the age of algorithmic systems. The exhibition examined how technological environments reshape perception — where repetition, glitches, and digital noise become part of contemporary visual language.

Hosted at Schlachter 151 in Berlin, the exhibition was part of a multi-room program connecting artists, curators, and galleries working at the intersection of contemporary art and Web3 culture.

Parallel to the physical installation, the digital exhibition and auction.
Together these elements formed a material diary of digital transformation, where repetition gradually produces distortion and visual erosion.
Printed stills extracted from video sequences — fragmented and glitched — arranged like an evolving visual archive.
The exhibition was curated by Von Doyle and Yana Kuzmina and presented as part of Art on Tezos: Berlin, a program dedicated to artists working with blockchain-based creative practices.

The project was developed in collaboration with:

Muse Frame — digital display technology for fine art presentation

CityX Foundation — supporting interdisciplinary artists and connecting digital and physical art ecosystems worldwide.

Digital Dimension

Alongside the physical exhibition in Berlin, a parallel virtual exhibition and auction launched online, expanding the project into a digital environment.

The virtual gallery translated the spatial language of the installation into a navigable digital world, where visitors could explore artworks within an immersive architecture of fragmented textures and algorithmic imagery.

This hybrid approach reflected CityX Foundation’s broader mission to connect physical exhibitions with emerging digital infrastructures for contemporary art.

Installation in Berlin

Visitors entered a spatial environment designed as a digital shrine of memory and glitch.

The installation combined video loops, printed still images, and immersive lighting to create a space that felt both intimate and unstable.

Exhibition Concept

The title Soft Error refers to a transient malfunction in computing, a moment when a single flipped bit alters meaning without destroying the system.

Within the exhibition, this technical phenomenon becomes a metaphor for how identity, memory, and perception mutate under the influence of time, pressure, and digital environments.

The installation transformed the exhibition space into a post-digital environment, where flickering images, fragmented visuals, and looping video sequences created a sensory landscape shaped by glitches and repetition.

Rather than presenting errors as failures, the project embraced them as creative forces — revealing how instability, distortion, and digital artifacts can generate new aesthetic and emotional experiences.

The exhibition continues the conceptual thread of Metamorphosis, shifting attention from transformation itself to the moment when transformation misfires — when repetition accumulates noise and meaning begins to fracture.

In partnership with CityX Foundation | November 6−9

The exhibition brought together an international group of digital artists working across generative systems, AI aesthetics, glitch practices, and experimental digital media.
