Born in 1997 in Russia, Ilya Bliznets works across painting and digital art.

Between 2017 and 2018, he was a member of the artist collective Cosi o cosa, participating in collaborative projects, group exhibitions, and solo presentations in Ivanovo and Moscow. Since 2023, he has actively exhibited within the international digital art and NFT ecosystem.

Bliznets approaches digital media as an extension of painting rather than a departure from it.

His compositions emerge through a deliberate process of layering, erasure, distortion, and reconstruction. Digital textures, glitches, and artifacts become active components of the image, revealing rather than concealing the conditions of its creation.

At times, AI-generated imagery serves as a point of departure. These fragments are subsequently transformed through extensive manual intervention, resulting in works that maintain the emotional depth and ambiguity of painterly practice.

His figures inhabit unstable spaces where memory, technology, and emotion converge. Between fragmentation and cohesion, the works capture moments of vulnerability and inner tension, reflecting the complexities of contemporary human experience.

Ilya Bliznets (b. 1997, Russia) is an artist working at the intersection of figurative painting and digital media. Originally trained in a technical field, he left his studies in 2017 to pursue contemporary art and painting, developing a practice that bridges traditional painterly thinking with emerging digital tools.

Rooted in drawing and painting, Bliznets work investigates how the language of figurative art can evolve within digital environments. Through layering, textures, digital artifacts, and image manipulation, he constructs emotionally charged compositions that preserve a sense of materiality while embracing the inherent qualities of digital media.

At the center of his practice are psychological states — vulnerability, anxiety, isolation, and the fragile process of self-reconstruction. His figures often appear suspended between dissolution and formation, reflecting contemporary experiences of identity, memory, and emotional uncertainty.

Bliznets belongs to a generation of artists exploring how traditional artistic languages can be translated into contemporary digital environments while preserving emotional and material depth.

Part of the Discrete Forms series, where the figure is approached not as a stable body but as a changing structure. Fragmented and partially dissolved, the image exists between loss and reconstruction, revealing the instability of perception and form within the digital environment.
